What is a Functional Cranial Release?
Treatment for Palatal Myoclonus with FCR has a 75% success rate! That means 75% of the cases I have treated over the last 4 years have had good or excellent results. FCR doesn’t always completely cure the disease. There is a 40% total cure rate and the other 35% have relief they significant reduction in head pain and palatal tremor. Usually they will state “I can live with this.” PM is a FUNCTIONAL problem with the nervous system. That means nerves aren’t firing and flowing properly. The ONLY way to fix it is to use neuroplasticity to rewire the brain! No pill or detox or injection or crystal waving will work! FCR is a multimodal approach to targeting the nervous that are working to take up the slack for the ones that are not! I use head and eye exercises that are designed specifically for your brain based on a detailed neurological exam. (usually much more detailed than any other neurologist you’ve been to thus far.) There is also a series of endo nasal balloon manipulations of the cranium. This works both by activation of the brain as well as releasing stuck patterns that break the myoclonus cycle your currently stuck in. There are other tricks but this is the basic program. I have a passion to help people with PM and would be happy to answer any questions you might have about my treatment.
Functional Cranial Release is non-drug, non surgical care for those with neurologically based health problems. There are many conditions people suffer from that are in this broad category:
- Learning and Attention Disorders
- Headaches
- Vertigo
- Pain syndromes
- Developmental disorders
- Nerve injury
- Spinal cord injury
- Head injury or Stroke
- Movement disorders such as Palatal Myoclonus
What does Functional Cranial Release involve?
A history is taken; this includes your current concerns, past health, lifestyle, job, school and family. Next a thorough neurologic exam is performed. The aim of this is to test as many areas of the nervous system as possible. The doctor wants to know if:
- An area is working or not
- It is stable, unstable or sluggish
- It can be improved by using more healthy areas
- It can be used to stimulate areas needing improvement
This is followed by therapeutical trial. This means a possible treatment is used, and then you are retested immediately to see if it will work. I have found that each patient with PM may differ however there are always various therapies that will either increase or relieve the myoclonus.
What are the types of treatment?
Nerve cells need fuel and stimulation to thrive. Treatment is aimed at providing these; it includes activities that have been shown either by scientific research, past case study, or immediate pre and post testing to activate nerve cells. This may include:
- Specific adjustments to joints
- Light, sound, smell and touch
- Balance activities
- Breathing exercises
- Nutritional modification
- Physical exercises
- Eye exercises
- Cognitive exercises
- Endo-Nasal Balloon Manipulations
- Optokinetic Eye Reflexes. Usually has an effect in PM.
Care is very safe and closely monitored.
